I think. They take weeks toplan, are over in a flash, and then take weeks to recover from asone tries to catch up on all the things that didn't get donewhile one was gone. And they aren't always what one expects; Iwas purring over the romantic appointments of our bed andbreakfast, until we sat down on one of the beds and realized thatit was only a marginal improvement over the floor in terms ofsoftness. And then there was the breakfast -- I'm still not surewhether our host was serving bacon (clearly microwaved theprevious day, if not even longer ago) or "Beggin Strips."However, we enjoyed the object of our travel, which was to seeLongwood Gardens and the Winterthur Museum in Pennsylvania andDelaware, respectively. I took something like 300 pictures, which is a new record (even in England I only took an average of100 per day). I still haven't seen most of them; once thisnewsletter is out the virtual door, I'm heading back toPhotoshop!I had one goal before I left, however, and that was to finish upWriting-World.com's newest e-book -- and what a book it is!Writing-World.com is proud to announce:THE GUIDE TO PAYING MARKETS FOR FICTION AND POETRY--------------------------------------------------In this guide, I have compiled what I confidently believe to beTHE most comprehensive and up-to-date collection of PAYINGmarkets for fiction and poetry available anywhere. It coversmore than 675 periodicals, including magazines, e-zines, andinternational publications. It has more than twice as manypaying periodical markets as the Writers Digest "Novel and ShortStory Writer's Market" (which is chock full of non-payingmarkets), and hundreds more than the "Poet's Market" (which hasthe same problem).Plus, did I mention "up-to-date"? I don't know about everyoneelse, but I've gotten pretty frustrated with online market guidesthat haven't been updated for years; you find yourself clickingon one dead link after another, or else get taken to publicationsthat folded back in 2003. (I particularly like those guidelinesthat say "we're closed for now, but will be back in January2004...") You won't find that problem in this guide; all listingshave been checked within the last four months (and MOST of themhave been checked as recently as May and June). In this guide, you'll find:* 596 markets for short stories* 416 markets for poetry* 153 international markets* 216 literary markets* 112 science fiction and fantasy markets* 68 children's markets* 46 horror markets* 43 Christian markets* 30 mainstream/general interest and multi-genre markets...plus markets for romance, flash fiction, humor, mysteries, westerns, and adult/erotica, and more than 100 nonfictionmagazines that use fiction and poetry. It's available as an e-book for $12.95 from our NEW onlinebookstore (http://www.writing-world.com/bookstore/index.shtml).For those who like the convenience of having such a referencehandy on their writing bookshelf (where you can pull it down andflip through it at any time), or who prefer researching themarkets in the comfort of a soft chair or at the kitchen table,it's also available in paperback for $16.95 from Lulu.com(http://www.lulu.com/content/349958).But wait, there's more... (as they say in commercials)! We Have an Affiliate Program!-----------------------------Yes, Writing-World.com has finally made it into the 21st century;we now offer an affiliate program with a whopping 25% commission.(Think about it: Sell four copies of the "Fiction and PoetryGuide" from your site and you'll have paid for your own copy!)Anyone is welcome to sign up. The one catch is that you do haveto have a PayPal account to get paid; the program is managedthrough Softseller.com, and payments are made only throughPayPal.
